Seahorses

I have the pattern for the seahorses quilt. I initally started to do it with paper piecing, but it was really tedious. Then I saw a demo online of quilter's grid interfacing, and I decided to try it. I've made two seahorse blocks with it, and I think I really like it. I made the pink one first, and all of the joins are accurate. I made the orange one next, and for some reason the joins on this one didn't turn out as well. I guess my quarter inch seam wasn't quite right. It still looks good, though, and it is so much easier than piecing each row and then putting the rows together. The two blocks are not exactly the same size, so I'll have to fudge things when I put them together into a quilt. I plan to make a green one, and then an aqua/turqoise one. Then I'm planning to make a big one (double the size), using a variety of colors. I hope I can turn the ideas in my head into an actual quilt ... LOL.

Mother's Day 2024 - May 12

This year, on Saturday me and the girls went to Trader Joe's.  The girls paid for a bunch of different types of flowers and we came home and made our own arrangements.  We ended up with enough flowers for 3 different bouquets.  It was fun.  They also took me to Ihop for brunch at my request.  Then on Sunday, they made me french toast and eggs for breakfast and Robert cooked a small brisket for dinner.  It was delicious.  The only damper in the day was the water heater decided to die, so there was a bit of mopping needed and initially I was stressed because of the leaking water.  We called a plumber that was recommended by our neighbor.  They came out and gave us an estimate of $4200 and they wouldn't be able to do it until Tuesday at the earliest ... ouch!   By this time, the leaking had pretty much stopped, so Robert declined that offer and we decided to wait until Monday,  He called the plumber we usually use for our heat and A/C.  They came out first thing Monday morning and made the replacement for $2450, so all is good.

August 29, 2023 - all the blocks are finished.  I will have to decide how to finish this.  I can't quilt something this big on my machine, so I will either do quilt as you go or I will use only some of the squares and turn it into a wall hanging.
