Blockheads 6 - block 4
This one turned out pretty good but not perfect so I tried a second one. The second one came out worse, so I'm sticking with this one. This QAL is supposed to be a skill-building experience, but I am changing all the patterns to foundation paper piecing.

Blockheads 6 - block 1
Even though I have a lot of projects in the queue, I decided to try out the Blockheads quilt along. I bought a fat quarter bundle and some matching solids, and here is my first block. I "cheated" by putting the pattern into EQ8 so I could do this using FPP. It came out much more accurate than if I used traditional piecing.

So I did a thing....
I ordered a sewing machine - Brother Pacesetter PS500 - it's refurbished so I got an $800 machine for $600. Can't wait to try it out.
Well - I love it! One of the main things about my old machine that I hated was that it didn't sew well over seams. This machine sews right over the seams without any problem. Also, it makes neater, more even, stitches.

Seahorses
I have the pattern for the seahorses quilt. I initally started to do it with paper piecing, but it was really tedious. Then I saw a demo online of quilter's grid interfacing, and I decided to try it. I've made two seahorse blocks with it, and I think I really like it. I made the pink one first, and all of the joins are accurate. I made the orange one next, and for some reason the joins on this one didn't turn out as well. I guess my quarter inch seam wasn't quite right. It still looks good, though, and it is so much easier than piecing each row and then putting the rows together. The two blocks are not exactly the same size, so I'll have to fudge things when I put them together into a quilt. I plan to make a green one, and then an aqua/turqoise one. Then I'm planning to make a big one (double the size), using a variety of colors. I hope I can turn the ideas in my head into an actual quilt ... LOL.
